The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

The smash-hit National Theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns to London for a strictly limited season, following an acclaimed UK and International tour.

Winner of 7 Olivier Awards and 5 Tony Awards® including ‘Best Play’, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time brings Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel to thrilling life on stage, adapted by two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens and directed by Olivier and Tony Award®-winning director Marianne Elliott.

Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs Shears’ dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

  • A great show

    23 March 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed the show. The set was really clever and the characterisation of key members of the cast was excellent. There was humour amid a very sympathetic approach to the issues portrayed. We left the theatre feeling we had been entertained but challenged!

  • Amazing show!

I first saw Curious Incident in Birmingham when it was on tour. So I couldn’t wait to take the opportunity to go and see it again when it went back to the west end. The way this book has been dramatised is incredible. It gives such a stark view of how autism feels for the sufferer and their families and yet there is humour and fun too. The choreography is seamless as the characters move around the stage in a fantastically creative way. The scenery/cube is so effective. I’m so glad I went for a second time.
